In 2012, after being approved by the State Council, China(Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services had been co-hosted by theMinistry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the People'sGovernment of Beijing Municipality, along with the World Trade Organization,the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the Organization forEconomic Co-operation and Development as supporters. In 2019, China (Beijing)International Fair for Trade in Services was renamed as China InternationalFair for Trade in Services (abbreviated as "Beijing Fair"). Sincethen, it has been annually held in Beijing. As China is in a new era ofeconomic development, the Beijing Fair also enters a new stage featured withbetter quality and performance. In 2020, China International Fair for Trade inServices changed its abbreviation name from Beijing Fair to CIFTIS.
I. About CIFTIS
CIFTIS has been successfully held forseven sessions. It is the largest global comprehensive fair for trade inservices and the leading fair for trade in services in China. CIFTIS is one ofthe three major Chinese exhibition platforms for China's opening-up, along withChina International Import Expo (CIIE) and China Import and Export Fair (CantonFair). These three jointly constitute a promotion system in the new era forall-dimensional openness and cooperation, where "Made in China" and"China Service" are thoroughly developed, and import potential andexport advantages emerge. With an aggregate exhibition area of 640,900 squaremeters and 1,102 forums, conferences and events in total, it has attracted over1.4 million visitors from 188 countries/regions and over 10,000 enterpriseexhibitors. It has made positive contributions to the deepening of globalexchange and cooperation in trade in services and the development of the globalservice economy.
The Chinese government attaches greatimportance to CIFTIS, and state leaders had attended all the held sessions.Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the Global Trade in Services Summit ofthe 2020 CIFTIS and highlighted the three thoughts and suggestions for allcountries working together to foster an open and inclusive cooperationenvironment, to unleash the power of innovation in driving cooperation forward,and to promote mutually beneficial cooperation. President Xi also declared thatthe state would support Beijing in developing a National Integrated DemonstrationZone for greater openness in the services sector and setting up a China(Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone. This speech fully demonstrates China'sconfidence and determination to remain steadfast in opening up wider to theworld. It has injected new impetus to recover the world economy early andenable global trade in services to thrive. In 2019, President Xi Jinping sent aspecial congratulation letter for the opening of the 2019 Beijing Fair. PremierLi Keqiang, Vice Premiers Han Zheng and Hu Chunhua, and then-Premier Wen Jiabaoand then Vice Premier Wang Yang had attended the previous sessions and giventheir instructions.
II. About 2021 CIFTIS
The 2021 CIFTISwill be held in the China National Convention Center and Shougang IndustrialPark in early September. In full consideration of the current severe globalpandemic, this session will be held online and offline. It is planned to focuson eight professional themes, including telecommunication, computer andinformation services; financial services; cultural, tourism and travel-relatedservices; educational services; sporting services; supply chain and businessservices; engineering consulting and construction services; and health andhygiene services. It is also planned to hold six types of events: Global Tradein Services Summit, forums and conferences, exhibitions and display, promotionbusiness talks, achievement release, and side events. The exhibition will coveran area of about 130,000 square meters, and more than 100 forums andconferences, promotion business talks and other events will be held. Besides,the 2021 CIFTIS will arrange business investigation, investment promotion,cultural experience and other supporting activities for exhibitors.
Global Trade in Services Summitwill invite state dignitaries and international organizations leaders to attendonline or offline events and deliver speeches. It aims to exchange policies andexperience to exchange approaches and expertise to jointly promote theprosperity and development of global trade in services and thrive the recoveryof the world economy. Forums and conferenceswill be held in ways of summit forums, brand-themed forums and industrialconferences. All these events will focus on hot industrial topics and lead theindustrial development trends to deepen trade in services and investmentcooperation. Exhibitions and displaysconsist of comprehensive and themed exhibitions. Comprehensive exhibitions willbe held in China National Convention Center, including countries and regionspavilions, provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities' pavilions, HongKong, Macao and Taiwan pavilions, and a special digital service area. Thecountries and regions exhibitions, provincial, autonomous region andmunicipalities exhibitions and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan exhibitions are forimage branding. Therefore, the guests of honor country and the guests of honorprovince will be set up. In the digital service area, visitors will expect thelatest forefront progress, achievements and applications of digital service.Themed exhibitions will be held in Shougang Industrial Park, and enterpriseshave their exhibitions on the above eight themes.Promotional business talks will have threecategories: countries and regions; provinces, autonomous regions and cities,Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan; and industry. The purpose is to facilitate the"bringing-in and going-out" of services and investment. Achievement releasewill be held in the release hall, where launching activities, authoritativerelease, service demonstration case release, and others, and setting uprelevant awards. Side events willprovide all exhibition and conference participants a resource sharing platform toorganize themed events, business talks, salons, dinner parties, wine partiesand other side events in various forms during the 2021 CIFTIS.
2021 CIFTIS will continue to beheld in the "online + offline" mode. Online platform will provideonline registration, booth reservation, online booth construction (including 2Dplane booths and 3D booths), exhibitor live streaming, online conference,online business talk, project release, electronic signing, business opportunitytracking, data analysis and other services for exhibitors. The online platformwill break the limitation of time and space for exhibitors to showcase productsand services online with videos, images, texts, live streaming and through othermultimedia means, and communicate with online clients by instant messaging,video calling, online conferencing and others anywhere and anytime. The dataanalysis services provided by the online platform will also help exhibitorsfind more business opportunities and make more deals by means of electronicsigning.
